Worried it something sinister

Hey

I have had an ongoing issue relating to my troat for some month now, GP did bloods that all came back fine and wont do much more than prescripe Naproxin so I pushed for ENT as I have a fullness feeling in my right side of my throat under my jaw line (Tonsil area).

I attended my appointment this week and have been prioritized to have mri and biopsy within the next two weeks.

Some times its a dull fulness feeling and other times its been slightly sore or the out side of my neck puffy.

I have had issues with ptsd and anxiety disorders and am struggling to not think its the worse or has it been left to late, does anyone have some wisdom to share to try shine a bit of light on this as the consulant wants to rule out cancer..when i heard the words my head has been in the clouds with worry.

I do smoke and have since a young age (im 39 now) and enjoy a drink on Fridays to help release tension from a busy/stressful week in work. I dread to even look on google as it is a lesson learnt from the past that it only gives negatives on medical symptoms.

Thanks in advance guys.

  • Hello Stressfulmind,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your MRI and biopsy.  I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more about all this. You did really well though to push for an ENT appointment and hopefully you will get some answers very soon.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. They said they wanted to rule out cancer but there are so many other things this could be.  The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. You are absolutely right when you say that this only tends to bring up the worst case scenarios so stay well away from Google. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
