Deflated and more confused after breast clinic appointment

Hi all,

Just need to get this off my chest. I went to my breast clinic referral appointment where I was examined and had an ultrasound. I came out being told they just think it's dense breast tissue but to go back in 6 weeks.

I feel so deflated, I thought / hoped I'd have a clearer answer by the end of the day but now I still feels so unsure.

Looking into different things they say you shouldn't be able to feel if you have dense breast tissue or not just by feeling it but I can definitely feel this lump and so could the staff today so surely it can't just be that?!

No question really just wanted to vent slightly.

  • Hi Hunney,

It's good they did that ultrasound and that they haven't spotted anything concerning but they are being thorough and will see you again in 6 weeks just to be sure. It's normal to feel deflated though as you haven't been left with clear answers but hopefully that is a good sign. If you are still worried though about this lump, do give them a call and tell them that you would like to be reassured that this has been looked at properly. Do mention it too when you go back in 6 weeks time and ask them to explain to you in detail what they think this lump might be and whether this is anything related to the dense breast tissue.

Keeping everything crossed for you that you get full reassurance on this when you see them again.

    Best wishes,
