Possible Melanoma

When the dermatologist removed my mole at my appointment, he turned and said 'I think it's likely borderline and nothing advanced'

can they say this if they weren't sure? Because I'm holding our hope that of course he is right. But I'm worried he might not be. I've rang them twice since to see if my results are back and they are 'awaiting approval'

I honestly am losing so much sleep over this and cannot even eat properly! Does someone have any advice please?

  • Hi Kay,

That all sounds very scary and I really sympathise with you. I too have moles that need checking and while have not gone through any excision, I appreciate how frightening it can be and that your mind goes into overdrive.

Without being able to tell the future, there is little advice than to say do what you can to relax and keep busy. Go on walks, meet with friends, read or exercise, whatever will keep your mind busy.

I think it is easy to think doctors take their time because they they are not in a rush, or don't care. But they do. They have a lot to do but will get your results to you in time. Keep chasing by all means and of course your reason are valid, if it is good news you want to relax and if it is not so good you want to know what action to take.

Do keep us updated but remember, talking helps and just trying to maintain some normality and routine.

    Good luck.
