'Unusual cyst' and fibroid - rush referral

Hi,

After a Transvaginal Ultrasound on Friday, I got a call from my doctor on Wednesday (yesterday) saying I had a fibroid and more notably 'an unusual cyst' and he was making a referral to gynaecology. I am also going for the CA125 blood test on Monday. I also just got a call from the hospital asking me to come in next Thursday. This all seems very fast which is a little concerning.

I am not sure what he means by unual cyst really and can't seem to get any clarification. Obviously Ovarian cancer is suspected. I'm 44.

Just wondering if anyone else has heard similar wording from thier doc and what the outcome of it all was...

Please don't be afrid to worry me, I worry most when I don't know what to expect and am uniformored. The rest I can cope with.

Many thanks

  • Hello JK77,

A warm welcome to our forum! It's great things are moving fast as this means you will get some clarity on all this sooner. There is nothing worse as you said than having to wait not knowing what to expect. Being told you have an unusual cyst doesn't necessarily mean cancer is suspected though so try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. It's good they are being so thorough and acting quickly and that they are doing a CA125 blood test. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Best of luck for your test on Monday and your appointment on Thursday. I am keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
