Referral to Breast Clinic

Hello, looking for some reassurance, I don't want to do my husbands head in for the next 3 weeks while I wait for my appointment to come through.

I saw my GP about a lump I had found in my breast at the end of February, I wanted to make sure it wasn't period related etc. But life just got carried away.

I kept checking, nothing changing so decided I needed to get it checked. The GP said she could feel a lump like I described (like a grape) she said it was mobile and couldn't say 100% as it could be inflammation but referring would be the best option.

Has any else had a GP say there lump was mobile?

My mind is racing and I have already given myself a telling off for not going in March or April.

  • Hello: I can't offer any reassurance or experience of a mobile lump I'm afraid, but I'm in the same situation of having found a lump & currently waiting for my clinic appointment (I've got a date: 28 May - I really wish they wouldn't call it a two week wait when that's clearly an aspiration rather than the reality).  So perhaps we can do one another's heads in (& give our husbands a break!) between now & then, & maybe we can find a few more people in the same situation & have a bit of company along the way.

Oh, and I really don't think you should be beating yourself up about not going to the GP earlier. You've started the process now so well done you. For what it's worth, I've been beating myself up for not doing regular breast checks & just assuming I'd notice any changes in the shower: at least from now on I know I'm definitely going to check properly.

  • Oh thats great, the 28th isn't that far away now. It just seems to drag and emotions just get more intense longer you wait I guess.

Absolutely I'll happy chat away on here

You will get I to the habit of checking them more regularly, I tend to check in the shower, if I'm sat down etc as mine tend to feel different in both positions. Not sure how that works. But doctor Google obviously has been a big hit these past few days.

We have done the best thing and sought advice.

  • I have just had a phone call..... appointment Monday at 09:30. One part of me is thats good it will stop me worrying for 2-3weeks now waiting for a call. The other half is thinking, that's quick what have they read on the doctors notes that's she waiting a few months to get checked out.

My head is exploding. Least work keeps me occupied.

  • Oh that's terrific news: I'm really pleased for you.  At least you'll know one way or the other soon enough.  I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you on Monday morning.

  • It definitely seems fair that you've got a quicker appointment than me: I only noticed my lump for the first time on Wednesday morning!

  • Thank you, I'll be keeping mine crossed for you as well

  • Hey [@JenniZach]‍

    how did you get on?

I also have a lump (it's literally like a grape) in my breast.  I'd say it's mobile as it feels like it moves between my fingers a little.  Im startled at how big and firm it is and how I haven't noticed it before :(. I'm currently awaiting my appointment next week with the breast clinic and am sick with worry.  I cannot function at all!  Just wondering how you got on, hope it was positive news For you?
