Breast changes ( terrified )

Hi , I'm 17 and have been unwell since January it all started off with a tight feeling of fullness one night in both breast which lead to being told I had costochondritis ( inflammation of the rib cartilage) . Since then I have never felt completely right as being told I am anaemic , low in b12 , folate and vitamin d , I keep getting this weird feeling that I have some form of cancer because my symptoms fit very well as I have experienced headaches , nausea , loss of appetite in the past few weeks which have worn off except the headaches and the occasional pain in my stomach and I also think I might have swollen glands in my neck which have been worrying me for over a month but the doctor didn't see anything wrong . I put my breast problems aside as I thought it was because of my costochondritis but now 4 months later I feel like my breasts feel lighter and look slightly smaller and I am not sure why I am getting worried as someone who I work with said she thinks I've lost weight and I don't know how because I haven't tried to I am just terrified the doctors are missing something , personally I don't think I look like I have lost weight but I can't help but think what if I also have gained really Bad health anxiety as things started to slowly get worse .

    Hi Bobbi,

It sounds as if you have a lot going on health-wise. I am not a doctor, but I presume that you are having treatment for your deficiencies. If so, you should be beginning to pick up by now. If this isn't happening, it soumds like you should have another visit to your GP. Tell him/her exactly how you feel and what you suspect - you may find it easier to write everything down before you go. It can also be helpful to see a different doctor in the practice, so that you get a second opinion at the same time.

As a young person, you are less likely to get cancer, but you still cannot totally rule it out. It can be difficult to persuade doctors to take you seriously and you may need to push to have some scans or tests done to rule this out.

I sincerely hope that this all turns out to be due to your health anxiety and not something more serious.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
