A very warm welcome to our forum, although I'm sorry to hear why you've joined us. As a mum myself, I can fully understand your worry. I am not a doctor, but understand that some people have 'reactionary nodes'. These respond to any mild infection in the body and the swelling usually dies down once the infection clears. In some cases the swelling doesn't always subside and the nodes remain swollen, sometimes for life.

I sincerely hope that this is the case with your daughter, but it is just as well that she has been referred for an urgent scan, if only for your own peace of mind. It is normal to be referred within the 2 week time frame where there is the slightest possibility of cancer being present. We always advise people to steer clear of Google at this stage, as it will only scare you further and serve no useful purpose.

I sincerely hope that there is a much simpler reason for your daughter's symptoms..

Thank u for the quick reply, I had an urgent referral myself not so long ago,the doc doing that hasn't caused all of the worry... Altho it doesn't help, it's just the idea that she had this for awhile, and was initially passed off, they couldn't see it via a phone appointment, but didn't say they wanted to see her, thankfully the doc I initially always seemed to get  has left that practice now, I am level headed and usually go with the mantra don't worry until u know, I'm reassured by u saying sometimes they can just stay swollen,and I thank u for that, its just so hard not to think these things, she still my baby girl, even if she thinks she all grown up now xx

I agree that I would still be frantic if this were my daughter. I hope that your own referral turned out ok. I'm sure that you'll agree that it is easier to go through this yourself, rather than to have your young daughter involved. I agree totally with your mantra 'It's not cancer until you're told it is,' Sadly, we often have to push to get young people tested for cancer, which is just not right,

Thank u for your kind replies, my bowel cancer screen was negative thank you they found a tumour on my adrenal gland which they are watching very closely, I'm so glad I got the gp that I did for her, she is very good, I keep telling myself no Tracey, don't read anything, don't convince yourself it's anything, I'm usually very strong but it's different when it's your children isn't it,

It's just always there now in my head, and very hard to push to one side,

I am so glad to her that your own screen was negative and that they are watching the tumour on your adrenal gland carefully. It is helpful that the doctor you used to see has moved on and that the one you saw is more pro-active.

There really is no point in reading anything when you don't have a diagnosis. Some Google information is poorly researched, out of date and inaccurate, so you can really add to your anxiety, for no purpose. It is hard to push this aside, if not impossible, but try to keep busy. Doing something like a jigsaw puzzle is a good way to pass time without realising it.
