Sorry to hear you have all this worry.  Posting at 3am, if you're in the UK it seems this is keeping you awake at night.

I can't advise you because that would be a medical decision you need to discuss with your doctor. It's just my opinion, but unless you have genetic evidence that you are at very high risk, what you are proposing seems very radical to me.

I'm very sorry your mum and step-mum had breast cancer.  It doesn't mean that you will get it. My grandmother developed breast cancer but my mother didn't and neither did I or my sister.

As you say, your step-mum isn't biologically related so her experience doesn't tell you anything more about your risk. It has obviously put it front and centre of your mind though.

I think if it was advisable, the NHS would do it for you.  If it's not medically advised, I'd suggest talking to your GP about your anxiety and perhaps get more advice on  how to examine yourself.  You will get regular routine mammograms if you are at the appropriate age.
