Welcome to the forum Jim although I'm sorry about the lymph nodes and sore throat your child is currently contending with.
Unfortunately no-one here can say what this is but if you're worried it would be best to get them booked in with a GP as they're the only ones who can give you the answers and peace of mind you're seeking at this time.
I'll have my fingers crossed these symptoms will turn out to be no cause for concern.
