What's wrong with me? The doctors can't find anything!

UPDATE: Hi I have edited the post as I don't want to spam the threads with too many posts.

Last year I developed a lump in my right breast, had two ultrasounds and core biopsies over the course of five months and both turned out negative for anything bad. I'm only in my 20s and have become extremely traumatised by that experience and haven't been able to move past it. I wasn't prepared for a biopsy, it just done to me on my first appointment.

I recently quit my hormonal pills after 3 years of being on it, and right after quitting, my left breast started aching terribly and there was a superficial boil on my areola. It's been two weeks since the pain started and now it's substantially subsided and the boil went away after 5 days.

But now I'm experiencing flaky skin on that same left breast. I did place a plaster over the boil and that's the exact area that's currently flaking but it's been a week since I last applied a plaster. I googled flaky skin and all I can get is paget's disease. Is it possible for the doctor to have missed this after TWO biopsies? My recent biopsy was only 2 months ago by the way.

Could flaky skin be a birth control withdrawal thing? I'm so tired of worrying about this. It's been so many months.

  • Hi. You have had a very scary traumatic last 6 months, no wonder you feel traumatised.

If you are having any doubts or anxieties about your left breast then you shouldn't hesitate going to your GP about it  & that is what they would be saying too.  Phone them on Monday to book an appointment  xx

    Hi Goldenswan,

I am sorry to hear about the pains you've been having in your breast. Although it is possible for someone of your age to have breast cancer, it is not as common as it is in older people. I am glad to hear that nothing untoward was found with both of your biopsies.

If this is a new lump in your other breast you should definitely go back to your GP for investigation. You might feel better if your GP referred you to the breast clinic, where you could have an ultrasound, which would show any changes in your breast. It is worth knowing that not all lumps are cancerous. Many are benign cysts or fibroadenoma. Only 1 person in every 8 referred to the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis.

Many ladies experience breast pain throughout their lives, particularly around the time that their period is due, but this is hormonal and harmless. It is also unusual for breast cancer to be accompanied by pain, so the odds still look good for you.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi guys, thank you so much for the love. The pain has improved. I posted an update on my OP. The pain has subsided but I'm currently experiencing skin flaking on my left breast. I tried googling it but every result shows PAGETS.

Should I just wait for a month before panicking? I've already gotten a biopsy recently (2/3 months ago) and I'm apparently fine. My head is spinning with all these odd symptoms... I'm failing universtiy because of this and having to go through it alone. It won't end.
