Enlarged chest nodes

Hi, after visiting my GP for generally feeling unwell and having a breathless cough for a number of months, I had my bloods done and was sent for a chest x-Ray. They found that my iron and vit d is very low and that I have enlarged lymph nodes in my chest. I've since had a CT scan and have an appointment with a consultant on 12 May. From experience, can anyone tell me if I am likely to receive any feedback from my scan before my appointment? Not knowing what the scan could of revealed has got me planning my own funeral! Just wondered if anyone else had had a similar experience and what the outcome was? Thanks

  • Hi Tillyluna,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's likely that your appointment will be the time you find out your results, and you'll have an opportunity to talk things through.

I can understand the uncertainty must be difficult. If you have any particular questions, make a note of these to take to your appointment.

While you wait it often helps to keep busy and to focus on things you enjoy, to help keep your mind off things.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben

  • Hi, my husband was found to have active lymph nodes in his chest when he was diagnosed with tonsil cancer, he had to have a PET scan and an EBUS, which is basically a bronchoscopy and biopsy.  We were beside ourselves with worry waiting for the results but the lung cancer nurse told us there are lots of reasons why these nodes get inflamed/enlarged and thankfully the biopsy came back clear.  Hope this helps.
