Neck lump, painful and swollen lymph nodes

Hi everyone,

As the weeks go on I'm getting more worried and not getting anywhere towards any help.

About 3 months ago I noticed a lump in the middle of my neck, and I had a moveable lump on my left collarbone. I have terrible shoulder pain, neck pain and sore throat and feel like I have something in my throat.

GP sent me for an ultrasound and he noted some reactive lymph nodes in my neck and sent me on my way with it's should be ok but see your GP' I went back to GP she took bloods and and they all came back normal apart from red blood cells which came back lower end of normal. GP thinks something is going on but doesn't know what so has asked the hospital for advice, information and guidance. This could take a couple of weeks.

in the mean time I'm left worrying I'm not going to see my children grow up. I feel like this has gone on so long that it has to be something bad.

i still have lots of symptoms including throat pain, voice feels strained when I talk, feel something in throat, ear pain. As well as every few weeks I get terrible shoulder, hip and knee pain all to the left. There are a couple of lumps behind my left knee too.

Im so scared has anyone else experienced this?

  • Hello Littlemiss82,

I know it is a really worrying time for you but it's good that your GP is being so thorough and that they have asked the hospital for guidance. I hope you won't have to wait too long to hear back from the hospital.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be as so many other things could explain your symptoms.  The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
