Cancer?

Hi!

I'm 24 & have noticed bleeding heavily when opening my bowels. It doesn't happen often but probably the 3rd time it's happened in 3 years. It's bright red with dark clots. Been to A&E as I was in pain also - they said X-ray was fine but some blockage. Rectal exam shows no piles etc. Doctors sent me for urgent blood tests, all look fine apart from white blood count is low? Googling what this meant has worried me but they have text to say they will call me in 12 days to discuss results? Usually they don't bother, so slightly worried. Done a stool sample too and haven't heard back on this either.
can anyone help?

  • Hello Worriedadult_12,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum.  I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you as you are waiting to discuss these important results. I hope that you also get the results of your stool sample soon. You could try and ring your surgery to see whether these results have come through.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
