Nipple inversion

Hi everyone

Around 2 months ago I noticed my left nipple was tilted to one side, then, 3 weeks later it became inverted. I cant feel a lump and have no discharge. I went to see my GP and she referred me to breast clinic on the two week wait pathway. My appointment date was for gour weeks later!

I've felt ok till now. My appointment is on Tuesday and I'm getting concerned.

I'm 52, my mum died of cancer at age 64. We never found out where her primary was, she died of liver, brain and bone mets so could have been a breast primary.

Am I worrying over nothing? Did anyone else just have nipple inversion with no other signs?

  • Hello Jenninj and welcome to Cancer Chat,

You did the right thing in going to see the GP when you noticed this nipple inversion and it's normal as you approach your appointment date on Tuesday that you are feeling anxious. Try not to worry too much though and don't think about what sadly happened to your mum as this may not at all be related to her cancer. There are so many other things it could be and I hope that you will hear from other ladies on the forum who have had nipple inversion and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you.

I thought I would also share this booklet from Breast Cancer Care to help you prepare for your breast clinic appointment and this link will also explain to you what to expect from your appointment.

I hope it all goes smoothly for you on Tuesday. We will be keeping everything crossed for you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jenninj,

I hope everything went ok for you.

I was refered by my GP on friday for the same thing but with a lump too. My left nipple inverts like a volcano but it's not all the time, it's more normal than it is inverted. But waiting for the date is driving me crazy, I hate not knowing things :-)

Was/is yours inverted all of the time?

    Thank you
