Hi - I don't know if anyone will be able to help. Or really, what I'm seeking. But all words and advice very much appreciated so here goes:
I found a breast lump a couple of weeks back. Problem is, I'm not currently in the UK. I traveled to Sierra Leone for work before the pandemic. I was due to be here for 2 months and, given the situation since with covid back home and work opportunities here, I stayed.
I went to a private hospital for a mammogram on 23 Apr. They called me back for an ultrasound on 28 April. No official report from the Dr yet but there's definitely something there so he booked me in for a biopsy on Wednesday 5 May.
I don't know when those results will be out. Obviously I can't jump to conclusions but, whatever it is, I think something will need to be done - it's quite big and it aches. Not painful so much but it's making itself known.
So should I start planning my return now? I'm aware waiting times have possibly increased in the UK since covid. I'm also mindful that I will have to quarantine for 10 days (though can pay for an additinoal test for earlier release). I live alone and have few friends and no family close to where I live in the UK so also worried about that (another reason why I stayed here). Agh I just feel so helpless but also very conscious that I may need to act very quickly and wonder what, if anything, I should put in place now.
If anything, it kind of helps just to write it all out.
Thank you
