Private Biopsy Belfast

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum here so not sure if I'm posting this in the correct place.

My father (49) had a scan yesterday on a lump on his neck that's been there for approximately six weeks, two hours later his Doctor phoned to say he's being referred for a Biopsy as they suspect it could be Lymphoma.

This morning he's been given an appointment two weeks away, is there is anywhere in Belfast you would recommend to go privately that would do the Biopsy much sooner than this. I would be willing to travel to Mainland UK if necessary with him.

I'd be grateful if you could also share with me any financial knowledge of what it would cost to go privately.

Thank you in advance.

  • Hello Gerard

I'm sorry to hear that your Dad has noticed some health changes recently and that this has led to him being referring him for a biopsy. We know that this period of uncertainty during further testing can be a very anxious time for many people and it's understandable that you want to get answers as soon as possible.

We do have some information here on our website about access to treatment but I'd encourage you in the first instance to talk with your Dad's GP who will be best placed to offer you some advice about possible private testing locally. Sometimes private testing is no quicker than what may be available at your local NHS hospital.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our team of nurses you're most welcome to give them a call. I'm sure they will be able to offer you some information and support. they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that your Dad has some news soon. Do let us know how he gets on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
