Night before results...

Hi all

First time posting but I've been reading posts ever since I first started 'worrying'. I first noticed a swollen lymph node in my neck that didn't go down for about 2 months. I also began to feel tired a lot. Needing an afternoon nap is now the norm - or if I'm working a long shift then coming home and going straight to bed. I describe it as having a limited box of energy each day and having to carefully plan how to use it.

The next thing I noticed was tat the every day bruises I get to the tops of my thighs from bumping into corners of tables etc were much bigger and darker. I also had a UTI a few months ago and so I bought some urinalysis sticks at the time, and I've noticed that everytime I do a random urine dip test it shows I have microscopic blood and leukocytes.

I've spoken to the GP by telephone consult last week and she has ordered bloods and urine tests on me and I get the results tomorrow.

While waiting for the results I've also had 2 heavy, spontaneous nose bleeds and where the blood was taken I've developed a really large bruise. (haven't had a nose bleed for as long as I can recall).

Obvs Dr. Google suggests that all these symptoms taken together are some form of cancer. I've narrowed it down to lymphoma or leukemia.of course I don't really believe it's a cancer but it does all sound sus when it's laid down like that.

I just keep thinking - how would I tell my husband, my kids, my parents?

On the plus side... I spent today organising the house / doing all the laundry / tidying the wardrobes etc (so they can all manage without me for a bit if I need to start treatment urgently)

Does anyone want to stick their hand up and reassure me that I'm over reacting?

  • Hi sorry to hear all your going through.

DR Google does have a habit of putting the fear of God in people.

Nothing anyone can say will stop you worrying but try and keep positive until you have the results.

Just be honest with your family. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last month and told my family straight away. It's hit us all like a sledgehammer as sadly mum passed away in January so we all grieving her loss.

Let me know how you get on xx

  • Well lymphocytes on blood test were elevated but everything else was pretty much in normal range. Have been referred to ENT.. Appt is on weds so we will see what they say. Meanwhile, tiredness +++ continues.
