Scared

Hi I've recently been prescribed tranexamic acid to stop my bleeding which is light but constant since a stay in hospital due to a unexplained random illness which involved  severe pain in legs left more so than right ,horrendous breathing ,fatigue feeling dizzy ,nauseous ,couldn't eat or very little, runs which I put down to lots of antibiotics for toe infection,so this was 4 weeks ago on my return home I was exhausted for a week then slowly felt better apart from this bleeding which never really concerned me (thinking I'm 49 and it the onset of menopause)until the doctor seemed quite alarmed by this ,I then think back to a good few moths ago where I was rushed to a&e  with really awful stabbing pains in my lower abdomen ,nothing found eventually faded away but since the gps visit I have been reading about cancer symptoms, cervical or ovarian and I have most of them but always thought it was other things ,feel bloated ,strange dull ache sometimes a burn pain at the top end of abdomen, nauseas, constant blood stained urine when wiping sometimes more than stained ,can't eat much ,noticed stronger urine smell ,is this similar to anyone else just want someone to talk to really as I'm only on day 4and have to take these tablets for upto 10 days to stop and he bleeding which isn't altering so far then I can go for an urgent examination

  • Did the hospital prescribe or your GP? I know a lot of people get given Transexamic acid for heavy periods, it's meant to reduce the amount of bleeding, I wasn't aware it was used for stopping it too.

I would make a GP appointment to specifically discuss those symptoms because it's better to get it ruled out than continue worry about it. Any abormal bleeding is worth a trip to the GP
