HPV positive, no abnormal cells.

Hi All,

I had my 2nd cervical screening test the beginning of March and had my results come through last weekend.

Results say HPV positive, no abnormal cells found. Obviously, I'm counting my lucky stars however, it has left me feeling really anxious.

Can anyone help me out, offer any advice? I've spoken to the nurse at my GP surgery who explained they can't identify strain etc and that the screening only picks up high risk HPV.

I'm feeling a mixture of emotions, and all I'm doing is praying it goes away by the time I have to have my next screening in March 2022.I

I've been with the same partner for the last 9 years, but it's left me feeling like I'm dirty

Anyone else ever had this result as well? How did you get on?

  • Try not to worry. I know it's so hard not to. They will keep a close eye on you. My smear came back HPV positive with high grade cell changes. This was my first abnormal smear.
All smears negative from 18-42. First time being tested for HPV as it's a new test.
I married at 18 and we are still together! This came as a very big shock to me.
But apparently HPV can lye dormant in your body. Then one day it wakes up!
I had LLetz treatment at my first colposcopy. But the biopsy didn't match my smear. That came back low grade. CIN 1.  Take a look at Jo trust. There is so much useful information on there. Also recommended by the nhs as being a good site to use. Positive vibes being sent your way

  • Thank you for your kind words and advice

Sending hugs and well wishes to you, too ♥

  • I have had  a letter tonight that says the same. My last smear showed nothing and now 3 years later I have the hpv virus but no abnormal cells.  I've need divorced for 4 years and had one partner since .
it's all very worrying isn't it . Did they used to check for it ?
