Should I get it checked?

Hi lovelies, I've always had a slightly more raised sternum on the right hand side. Recently I've noticed the area where the inside end of the underwire in my bra would sit has been feeling very tender and painful. It's more so when I'm ovulating but I don't even wear wired bras anymore because of it and I'm just wondering if this is normal or I should get it checked out. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

  • Hi Mumofone1990,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's hard to advise on this but in general any new symptoms that you're concerned about, it's generally best to speak to your doctor, even if it's simply for peace of mind. As most surgeries are offering telephone appointments at the moment, you can always book one in and if the doctor feels it necessary to see you then they'll say so.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi,

I remember my mother complaining that the underwiring was painful. She was in her 80s and it was cancerous - she had surgery and it was easily removed.

Whilst I'm sure it can be one of so many things I'd get it checked for peace of mind.

    Good luck

  • Appreciate the responses. I went to my doctor today. She observed two lumps and referred me to the breast clinic. Can anyone advise what might happen next and how long it will take please? Thanks.
