Swelling in right side of lower neck

Hi Everyone,

Just needed some advice. I noticed a swelling in my sons neck last week. It's not visible when he is looking straight ahead only when he turns his head and the muscle stretches.

On feeling it there is no palpable lump  - GP said it wasn't a lymph node either but has referred urgently for an Ultrasound.

No other symptoms - He said he noticed it a couple of years ago but thought it was nothing!

Any ideas what it could be?

    Unfortunately no-one here can tell you what this is but it's good you consulted a GP and your son has been referred for more tests.

    I know the words 'urgent referral' can seem quite scary but I hope it helps to know that 9 out of 10 people referred this way are not diagnosed with cancer. You can find out more just here.

    Fingers crossed your son won't have to wait too long for his ultrasound and the results bring good news when the time comes.
