Bleeding for 18 weeks!

Hello,

I have been menstraul bleeding now for 18weeks with no signs of it stopping, it is a heavy flow every day! I pass really big clots some days too. Doctors have done blood tests which came back showing my iron levels are low and my platelets are slightly high, this was done a month ago so don't know what they are now. I also had a transvaginal scan a month ago too which shows no signs of polyps or fibroids. My endo lining was 8.3 at that point. Overall I feel different in myself I am tired all the time no matter how much sleep I get, I have a loss of appetite too I just don't fancy food anymore but I do eat as I know I have to. I am getting headaches a lot too. I have also got a lump now at the top inside of my thigh which is getting bigger. I am just a little fed up now as this has taken over my life the past 5 months I worry about leaking through pads and it makes me scared to stand up especially when I'm at work as last week I stood up and felt something come out of me and I got into quite a mess. Sorry for going on, but it feels good to write it all down and get it off my chest, I feel like I pester the doctors ringing up most weeks to get somewhere but so far all they have done for me is the blood test and scan and referred me to gynaecology which I have been waiting for an appointment for 12 weeks now. I feel because I am in my 20s I am not being taken serious as the doctors just tell me to have the coil fitted which I wouldn't like to have

  • I'm sorry you feel like you're not being taken seriously Soph.

If your symptoms have got worse or becoming unmanageable don't hesitate in getting back in touch with your GP to see if it's possible for them to get your referral pushed through more quickly or offer you something to help you whilst you wait.

I'm not sure how many doctors you have at your surgery but if you have more than one, you could try getting a second opinion from another doctor. You can find out more just here.

You're not alone Soph and I'm sure some of our members will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

    Kind regards,
