ovarian cyst or more?

Morning everyone.

Just writing to introduce myself and maybe hear from others about their experiences.

I went to the GP a few weeks ago with what I thought was an IBS flare up.

Blood tests revealed a slightly raised CA125.

I had a scan a couple of days ago and they've found a cyst about 13cm in mass.  They've referred me urgently to gynaecology under the two week pathway.

It explains my pain and constantly needing to wee!

I just wondered if anyone else was going through similar or has done. Trying to keep busy and positive xx

  • Hello Katecat,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat. You did well to go to your GP and it's good they are doing the necessary tests. I am sorry to hear they have found this cyst but it's great that things are moving fast and that you will soon be seen by a specialist.

You're doing the right thing in trying to keep busy and positive. It isn't always easy I am sure but the best thing to do is to keep distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online as this will only bring up worst case scenarios.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Katecat,

I'm in a similar position to you, although my issues originally started due to bleeding after sex. I was sent for an ultrasound where they found a cyst on my ovary, 5.4cm. What sort of pain are you getting? I've had chronic lower back pain that feels like sciatica and days with horrific abdominal cramps. I've also been referred under the 2 week pathway and am due to go for a colposcopy on Thursday. Counting down the days because I'm definitely fearing the worst!xx

  • I hope it goes well, please let me know.

I'm getting back pain plus cramping too, the GP has prescribed me codeine. The pain comes and goes too? Yesterday my back was agony but a bit better today. I'm also weeing a lot more!

I had a colposcopy two years ago after an abnormal smear and there was nothing abnormal so just worried about where this beast came from and how its grown so quickly.

    Sending love  xx

  • Thank you, I will do.
I tend to have a dull ache most of the time but moves from different sides of my back, some days are definitely worse than other.  I had a smear two and half years ago, all clear so like you, very concerning where all of this is coming from!
I hope you get your appointment through soon xx
