Having a tough time waiting

Firstly I apologise to everyone who is in a worse situation than I am right now!

3 months ago I had pain in my right ovary. over 3 months of pushing it forward I've had an ultrasound and they think it's most likely a dermoid cyst I've had lots of blood tests all clear and I'm waiting on an MRI for it too before I can have surgery. Its uncomfortable and I get a lot of pressure but the results make me feel better about it. I've spoken about this on another thread and have had some good support. Thank you.

Unfortunately I found a lump in my right breast too. I only found it because of arm pit pain after my covid vaccine. I saw the nurse at my GP but she said because I was on my period she wanted to see how it felt in three weeks time. So I went back this week and she confirmed a lump. I've been referred for 2WW but the clinic is running at least a week behind due to a covid back log. It seems scarier having two issues on the right.

Im trying to stay as bubbly and positive around my family. I have a 2 year old and I'm 33 (still a baby to my Mum) and don't want them to see me worrying when there's nothing anyone can do. It's hard as I'm starting to feel more and more tired and run down with the worry.

My whole boob doesn't hurt but it is uncomfortable and definitely different to lie on at night which makes it hard to forget about.

Anyone have any tips to speed these weeks along or anything that people recommend I take to ease the uncomfort?

Thank you very much x

  • Hello JLpeaks,

I am pleased to hear that you received some good support on the forum before and that it is very likely that it is just a dermoid cyst and the blood tests you had were all clear. I am sorry to hear though that you have found a lump on your breast too. Waiting can be the hardest thing and I can imagine these weeks will feel like a lifetime to you and it's a shame that the clinic is running behind because of the post covid backlog.

Perhaps you could ask advice to your GP about how to ease your discomfort while waiting to be seen especially as it seems like this is making it difficult for you to find a comfortable position to sleep. The best thing to do to help you deal with this long wait is to try and keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid focusing on this or looking anything up online as this will only make you feel more anxious. There are also some useful tips on this page  to help you cope with waiting for news.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out to be fine!

    Best wishes,
