I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your CT scan. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more. 

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. Your partner is absolutely right but it is normal to be feeling anxious at the moment. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. 

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you. 

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

Thank you so much for your reply and for the reassuring words.

I'm doing my best to avoid thinking about it and trying to stay distracted. I haven't smoked since I got this news so that's one positive at least! 

CT Scan is very early Wednesday morning and meeting the consultant for diagnosis immediately after. Fingers and toes crossed.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to leave a quick update about my diagnosis, in the hopes that it might help anyone else who is worrying like I was over the last week or so. 

I went for the CT scan, I was sent for lung function tests and met the consultant. The 2.5 cm shadow turned out to be a benign pleural fibroma, which according to the Doctor is nothing to worry about. They will send me for another CT scan in 12 months just to keep an eye on it and make sure that it has not grown or changed in the meantime. 

I had been worried sick for the last week, was very scared and of course did far too much Googling about my symptoms which certainly did not help. I am so happy that everything is ok and, despite everything being ok, I have taken this as a wakeup call to look after myself better going forward. 

For anyone else in a similar situation, my advice would be to try not to overthink things and wait for the test results before you start to overthink things. I know it is easier said than done but do try! :)

Thanks very much for posting your update Brian. I'm so pleased for you.  It seems a lot of people post their worries here, but then don't come back when the panic's over.

Congrats all ended well. I have 2 x 3.5cm shadows either side of my spine chest level. Pet scan tomorrow and I’m myself. Oncologist said they were vague and his unsure, but the people who were doing the treatment for my endometrial had that pity look on their faces. I now got a 1 to 2 week wait to see if I have a 2nd cancer. Has been a crap year so far
