Just found large lump in breast

Hi, I'm completely new to this. I've always checked myself regularly in the shower and found nothing, but recently saw a video on Facebook from a woman saying you should test yourself lying down.
I've just found what feels like a big lump that feels like a loads of frozen peas all stick together. It doesn't hurt, though I have made my self sore from prodding and poking. I tried finding it when standing and it's hard to locate but once found it it's undeniably there. Lying down it feels at least 5x2cm, and lumpy like a mountain range, I'm also worried that it's not particularly mobile.

I'm horrified and scared, less for myself but more for my 10 year old son who has no cousins. I'm already thinking about who will look after him if I'm not there!!
Anyway, I've just filled in an econsult through my GPs surgery website (at 2am I know! But I'm worried I'd chicken out if I left it till morning!!)  and will follow it up with a phone call tomorrow morning. From what people are saying on here it seems there is a long wait for referrals and treatment due to the current situation so I'm hoping our little area in Dorset is a faster than that!

Hi Clara sorry to see your up so late worrying about your breast lump, but its quite normal fir you to feel this way when finding anything that you are concerned about.

Firstly we'll done on having the courage to call up and get this sorted  its not easy ,I know it tool me 2vweeks of prodding and poking myself, before I finally called my Gp,and went to Gp who sent me on a 2ww referal to the hospital breast clinic.

You have done the right thing ,as there are a number of things that it could be, it may not be Cancer ,it could be cysts or inflammation in the breast, but if it does turn out to be cancer,it will be treated, Cancer treatments have come along way and it isn't as bad as it used to be,if it's caught early enough the ⁰outcome is good.

You never know you may be given good news, and I realy hope that this is the case but if it isn't  you will be well looked after, and given treatments tailerd just for your body,my advise to you is try not to worry, and stay positive whatever the outcome,it realy helps. And don't Google anything, as it can be misleading at times and only add to your worry.

Keep strong, stay positive and I hope everything goes well for you.  Please let us know how things go,there are always lots of lovely people on this chat forum, who are going through, or have gone through that awful time your going through now, the waiting to find out is tough. Goid luck ,sending positive  vibes and a virtual hug your way. Xxx
