So, got the results for a stool DNA test today and it had picked up a gene mutation in the BRAF gene (which is a cancer causing gene). Worried now, the doctor I spoke to said I needed to go back and request a full colonoscopy, but also said to get my moles checked as the BRAF mutation is found in 50% of people with melanoma?!
Surely if the gene mutation was detected in a stool test that means the location of the damaged cell is in the bowel.. .not elsewhere in a melanoma? Any one know about this?
Any one have any experience of acquired genetic mutation?
Even if it is currently at the pre-cancerous stage right now,I feel like knowing I have this mutated oncogene my future cancer is now certain and progressing closer day by day
Cant find much info online
Thanks for any replies
