Large 2-4 cm lump in right breast

Hi all,

I have a large 2-4 cm lump in my right breast. I saw a doctor today who has urgently referred me to the under 39s breast clinic; my appointment is on the 4th May.

I am really scared. I'm a single mum to a 12 year d and can't imagine what we will do if this is cancer.

Any advice or help, as I feel lots

Thanks

  • Hello Shads,

Welcome to our forum. You did the right thing in going to see the doctor and it won't be too long now before your appointment at the breast clinic. It's normal that you are feeling scared and anxious at the moment and I hope that you will hear from other ladies here who have been in a similar position before and that they will be share their experience with you.

I thought I would also share with you this booklet from Breast Cancer Care on what to expect from your breast clinic appointment. I hope it will help you prepare for your appointment and that everything goes well for you on the day.

In the meantime, I know it's really hard but try not to anticipate what this lump may be as there are so many different possible reasons for it and most of them don't turn out to be cancer. Try and resist any temptation to look things up on Google as this will only make you feel more anxious. It won't be long now before you are seen by a specialist and get some definite answers.

We are keeping everything tightly crossed for you that it turns out to be nothing concerning.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your reply.

I have called the hospital and I have to go to the appointment on my own.

Will I be told if I have cancer at that appointment?

    Thanks
