Right sided pain/heavy bleeding-no help

This is going to be one long story.. Please take time to read and any advice will be amazing as I'm getting nowhere with the Docs.

34 female

November 2020 I started  Experiencing diarrhea every day. Some days it was watery other day its was Just a bit sticky and mucous. The pain started on the right side just below my ribs. It comes in waves when it is bad. But calm days it just feels like a stitch. After a month of this I went to the doctor who was reluctant but referred me to the hospital. Whilst waiting for the appointments to come through I started having maroon coloured blood with diarrhea. Not a little blood. A lot! I was observed in A and E and they sent me to the hot clinic the following day. The consultant suggested it is most likely piles or possibly colitis. But to be on the safe side I was ordered an MRI and colonoscopy. 6 weeks later I had the Mri which showed inflammation on the left side. And that was all.

After waiting 5 months for the colonoscopy I called and moaned as I think the wait was too long and this pain, bleeding and loose stools was not something I could just sit and wait any longer for. I was advised that I would only have a flexi sigmoid as the inflammation was only On the left (I was referred with right sided pain) went along with it any way. Had the scan. Everything was normal but they were shocked that I did not have any piles which I'm guessing was their assumption.

I'm bleeding heavily every 4 to 5 days. I'm in and out of the hospital. I feel like a hyperchondriac but I genuinely feel unwell and I'm terrified.

Last week or so I think I'm having shoulder tip pain with it.

Ultrasound normal. Bloods normal. Blood pressure fluctuating between very low and today its 146/94.

They will not do a colonoscopy as all the other tests have been clear.

The pain is awful. The diarrhea is awful.

I don't have the money to go private.

All getting too much.

  • Hello Melc87

I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing health problems that you've been dealing with. It sounds as if it's been a difficult time for you and I can understand that you're feeling frustrated and anxious about things.

Whilst it is reassuring that the tests you've had to date have not shown any immediate cause for concern it doesn't solve the ongoing issue. I'd encourage you to go back to your GP about things. It might help to write down a list of all the ongoing symptoms that you're experiencing so that you can fully explain things to them.

If you'd like to speak to one of our team of nurses for some advice you're most welcome to call them. they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I do hope that things improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
