BIA ALCL pre diagnosis

Hey everyone,

So glad i found this site to know i'm not the only one out there with symptoms of this. I didn't know anything about it and am now terrified!

I received textured implants back in 2012 and in January this year my right breast became really hard and swollen overnight. I've been back and fore to the doctors, had an ultrasound and an MRI which finally showed fluid at the back of my implant.

I am currently waiting for test results after an aspiration yesterday where the radiologist had informed me that she had removed some of the fluid for testing. Before leaving she advised me that to her it definitely looked like lymph fluid and not anything else.

I've googled lymph fluid around implant and all answers are pointing to this cancer!! My question is, is there any hope that it can't be cancer? If it isnt cancer then what else would cause the lymph fluid around the implant?

Thinking I should just prepare myself for the worst.

  • Hello Laurabz

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some breast changes which have left you feeling concerned about what may be going on.

I'm presuming from your post that you've seen some of the other messages on the forum about BIA ALCL. However, if you haven't then you can use the forum search function to read other posts and connect with members who have had similar concerns.

I'm afraid that I'm not able to answer your question about the lymph fluid around your implants but if you want to give our nurses a call I'm sure they will be happy to give you some information and advice. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I hope that you don't that to wait too long for your results and that they bring reassurance.

    Best wishes,
