Hi just a message to all the pre-hysteroscopy ladies reading this.
I read some posts on here prior to my hysteroscopy, polypectomy and biopsy. Realising that this procedure was going to be painful i asked my gp to give me a valium to take. I swallowed it aprox 1 hour before my procedure along with my heavy duty pain meds (tramadol and zapain) and yes it was still awfully painful. I had several numbing injections into cervix ( but come on, postmenopausal cervix' are not meant to be opened 7cms! That door is firmy shut) but i found i felt amazing afterwards! I actually smiled and thanked the staff for an experience i wont quickly forget.
I had a large polyp removed. Im postmenopausal (10 years) and suffered with bleeding last month.
I was in horrendous pain before the polypectomy. My uterus was trying to rid itself of the polyp and i can honestly say (having 4 children) that i was having labour pains.
I am waiting for results from endometrium and polyp biopsies as its only been a week since the procedure but i am feeling positive and hope to get good news soon. Maybe there is something wrong with me because i really dont believe i have anything to be concerned about and i really dont want to stress about something that may not happen. So im carrying on as normal. Blessings to all of you.
My one piece of advice...remember grab a narcotic from your gp in advance of hysteroscopy! Amen!
