Swollen lymph nodes biopsy

Hello All

Sorry to post here but my mind is in overdrive. Just some advice, encouragement needed.

For the past year I've been having hot flashes really bad, went to GP and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I'm on tablets but it hasn't helped my hot flashes and I get awful night sweats.

I've had a swollen lymph node in my left armpit now for 2 months. I've been to my GP and was prescribed antibiotics. The swollen nodes haven't resolved. I was referred to the breast clinic and the examination went well with no causes for concern but I was referred for an ultrasound that day. I had that on 8th April and it was noted that my lymph node was large and I biopsy was taken. The results haven't arrived as yet.

Separate to that, I have a swollen lymph node in my groin on the left I have been sparadically bleeding in between periods so was referred to a different hospital for an ultrasound, which I had today. It was noted that potentially I have a polyp in my womb so I have been referred to a gynaecologist. She did ask if I was planning on more children etc, but I have been sterilised.

Note, I am a 36 year old female.

Obviously, as with many others, I am frightened of it being cancer so I wanted to know if anyone else has had the same or similar experience.

Thanks all

  • Hello Blinkie11,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your biopsy results and to see the gynaecologist. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
