Had the full works today - mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy

Hi all

Had my appointment at the hospital this morning after finding a lump 2 weeks ago.

Started off by seeing the Dr, sent for mammogram (ouch!), then sent for ultrasound, then to top off the morning had 2 biopsies taken from one lump on the left. The dr who performed this was lovely and showed me the ultrasound screen throughout his examination. He kept going back and forth, pointing out mini cysts before finally resting upon a black mass on screen, he mentioned it was only 2cms long.

He performed 2 core biopsies and left markers ??? In the lump - never heard of this before, is this normal ?

Have been told I'd be contacted within 3 weeks with the results

TIA for reading and possibly replying

  • Hello!

I'm sorry you're going through this. My GP found a lump in my breast and a lump in my armpit and I have got my mammogram on Wednesday and I have been told they will more than likely do a biopsy too. I am terrified..

This is all totally new to me. But from what I have researched, finding a black mass with a pale outer circle is what you want- it usually means that it is benign. It's the lighter lumps that are concerning.

I'm sure you will be ok. I've got everything crossed for you.

    Ashlea xx
