Cervical ectropion and burning sex

Hey sorry for tmi lol but when my partner and I have sex it hurts so bad and burns like nothing I've felt before, for a good 2 hours after. A month ago I was told I had cervical ectropion and have been referred for removal (waiting list is 6 months plus). Has anyone else here had burning? I know some pain is normal but this is unbearable. Just worried cause I've read burning sensation is a lesser known symptom of cervical cancer

Xx

  • I'm sorry that the burning sensation is becoming unbearable L_Adams.

It may be worth letting your doctor know about this as they might be able to provide you with some temporary relief whilst you wait for your referral. You could see if it's possible for them to push your referral through more quickly as well.

Hopefully some of our members who have experienced a similar sensation will let you know how they managed soon but if you'd like to find out more about cervical ectropion, just click here.

  • Ho steph

Thank you so much for your reply, hoping someone has a similar experience and has had nothing too sinister wrong. I might call my gp and see, would hate to come across as a drama queen but I'm worried.

  • Hi, I have just been diagnosed with cervical ectropion after over a year of scans and checks for painful sex. I get the same burning sensation and for me sex has been unbearable for over a year now. I've been told there's a 4-6 month back log for treatment where I live!

  • hi!! i was diagnosed with cervical ectropion 6 months ago after having it for 3+ months and had to wait 5 months for my gyno appointment. when i went, the new doctor didn't take me seriously and rushed when treating me, meaning she did a botched job and it went funny so i had to go back to my doctors and she found that she cauterised the wrong part, so make sure you keep pushing at the doctor to do the treatment that your gp suggested!! i found out because sex is still unbearable, however since it's been so long that i've been in pain my doctor told me to buy two things: sylk light lube plus replens moisturiser, which should help get rid of the burning pain (which is totally normal if you've had swabs and been negative) when having intercourse with cervical ectropion keep trying loads of positions!! it took me a good few months to find one which was comfortable. try to find out where the affected area is (mine is on one side of the cervix) and find a position which doesn't hit it, this helps a lot!! sorry if this doesn't help x
