Small hard lump

Hi I'm in my 40s, I've noticed yesterday a small hard lump just to the side of my clitoris. It is normal colour and is under the skin but I can see it and it protrudes out. Had a pap test January and it came back positive for hpv but no abnormal cells so I need another smear next january. I've stupidly googled my lump and all it comes up with is vulva cancer. My nerves have gone especially with testing positive for hpv and my age. Not sure how I have hpv as I am currently single and have been for some time.Has anyone else come across this? I need my mind settling before contacting a doctor. I cant even get to see a doctor due to covid rules so I'm stuck in a nervous state and have myself written off.

  • Good evening, you sound a little like myself I found a hard lump in same place as yourself over easter weekend but mine is black in colour, did the whole dr google and scared myself so I went to the doctor last week after a phone call as I couldn't get a face to face appointment and the Dr fitted me in the next day and I got my appointment for hospital in post yesterday.

Can you phone and ask for a telephone consultation with your doctor as soon as you discuss your history they will find an appointment for you I'm sure.

Im no help on the HPV I'm afraid sorry my love.

  • Hi, sorry to hear you're in your position.  You got an appointment quickly thankfully. When is your hospital appointment?  Fingers crossed for you. Please let me know how you get on. Yes they say it's a rare form of cancer and only in older people. But I turned to dr google and now have myself written off. I'm 48 nearly. Not sure if I'm paranoid cause I k ow it's there but whist it's not painful I can feel it slightly. Not sure I can bring myself to call gp today, firstly through embarrassment but also if it's a cyst or something and goes itself I'll feel daft. Not sure how long it's been there but I'm thinking give it a few days to see. Thank you for replying. Please let me know how u get on. xx

  • Honestly we sound so alike with everything. I can see/feel it but no pain or iching or anything it's just there if I hadn't of felt it I wouldn't even know I had it the only symptom on the Internet I have for cancer is the colour and location of the lump.  I waited a week to see if it would subside but it didnt so bit the bullet honestly doctors/nurses have seen all things all shapes and sizes and they don't even pay much attention to anything other than what you have to show them my lovely my hospital appointment is not until the 28th so next Wednesday. I shall keep you posted but I'm reassured from both doc and Internet it's got to be a cyst or gland and nothing sinister as it's slowly decreasing in size but colour is still the same and I wouldn't want to cancel to then get another one the next day and doc must of referred me for a reason so better safe than sorry I say so never be embarrassed or feel daft.

  • Morning, if yours is decreasing then that's a good sign. Just the colour tho too so you're doing the right thing. I'm made up you have an appointment so quick. Please keep me posted I'll be thinking of u. I just checked mine and it looks bigger than yesterday but not sure if its cause I'm panicking or cause I've noticed it. I can feel it when I wipe but not sore as such. Do you mind me asking what age group you're in? My age and that positive result from smear is adding to my worry. I'll let u know if i pluck up courage. Think I'm frightened of what they will say it is too which is making me pause.
