Breast/Nipple area - so anxious

Hi, I don't have a diagnosis but I am so so worrried. It's taking over my life. I had intermittent right breast shooting pains and then some itching about 6-8 weeks ago. The pains were more of a burning at times and my nipple got sore/itchy and dry as a result. I was prescribed a steroid cream with an oil based lotion: the steroid cream didn't help but it did clear up somewhat. So I stopped using them. Then around 2-weeks ago, it got itchy and unbearable again. Called doc who wants to try a stronger steroid but also swapped me to check for nipple thrush (waiting on results) I should mention I've had bloods taken and they're 'normal'. I feel like the nipple area looks pretty normal at times and others, it can look reddish with smaller spots or at times kinda wrinkly. I am terrified it's IBC. I get pains in my right shoulder blade, shoulder, flank and rib-cage and had several ultrasounds before Christmas but nothing flagged up in mh abdomen. I had H-Pylori too, which was treated successfully but I feel it's left me intolerant to certain foods; I'm feel some of my pains and ailments flare up when I've eaten dairy but don't want to get my hopes up. I previously trained weights and ran and was very active; always had issues with right side pain due to not stretching, pull muscles etc. I stopped everything in September - poor mental health. I don't know if some of my aches and pains are from being pretty inactive since then. I fear the worst - doctor said next step would be a specialist but she hasn't even looked at my boob yet. So sorry  I'm just really not coping. I keep thinking all my other aches and pains mean it's spreading through my body. I genuinely can't cope with this at all.

  • Hello NattersW,

I hope you won't have to wait too long to see the specialist. Try not to worry too much in the meantime and do mention if you haven't done so already all your other aches and pains to your doctor but these are not necessarily related. I hope that you will get the results of your swab soon and that they can get to the bottom of this itching. Coincidentally, I just welcomed another member, [@Em1998]‍ , who also mentioned  on her thread that she was suffering from intense itching on top of her breasts and was worried about it too. Don't hesitate to chat to one another as it helps to talk to someone else who is currently going through a similar thing.

I hope that you get to see the specialist very soon and that you get some definite answers and that this itching subsides soon.

    Best wishes,
