Waiting on a certain biopsy

Hi. I'm 31m. Been having acid reflux for 4 months now. Last Saturday I had a Gastroscopy done. I got some results on the day. I have a 2cm Hiatus Hernia slyding type 3.

And a slightly jaggerd z line. Because of the acid reflux I've been having and the Hiatus Hernia and jaggard z line. I got tested for 3 extra things. 2 of them r not so serious. But 1 is for Barrets Esophagus. I'm in the UK. And my results meant to be bk no later than 8 weeks. My question is. How long dose it normally take?. Surely it is sooner than 8 weeks?. (yes I know covid). Surely my surgury would get them sooner than that.

 

I'm planning on giving it like 3/4 weeks. And then take it from there. And give my surgery a call. To see if they have them in. Not going to lie. The waiting is annoying. Anyway thanks in advance.

    I too had a gastroscopy yesterday . 
    I have got things wrong and they took biopsies of the middle and lower osephages . 
    They said the results will be back within 2 weeks . 
    your results seem along time .

    Hi.  I really don't know how it works or how long they take, depending on specific tests for type of cancer etc  I had an upper endoscopy on 29th March.  Like yourself I had been experiencing some acid reflux issues.  I also at times experience very low down abdominal.pain linked I think to eating.  Anyway I was told everything looked normal but there was a large polyp coming out of the duodenum.  The doctor said she was not familiar with the type, which was not very reassuring! I have waited 3 weeks now and have told to allow up to four.  Stuck now living in fear I have duodenal cancer.

    Yep. Don't hey me wrong in 2 weeks I'll call up my surgury and see if they have some results for me.

    8 weeks is crazy. I understand its not urgent. But still. That's mad. I know having Barrets dosent mean cancer. But higher risk of it. Do you have acid reflux or a Hiatus Hernia?

    Hi. Is the pain around your belly button?. Or lower then that?. If so. I can tell you what that is. Yes that's acid reflux. You're eating something you shouldn't be atm. Try and find out what it is. And the pain should stop. Also r u on ppi?. (omeprazole etc). I'm going to give it another 2 weeks. And then give my surgury a call up. And see what they say. They might have got it by then. So I'll find out then.

    I've never heard of that myself. Maybe they want to be sure what it is. That's why they want to give it another week. 

     

    Fingers crossed it comes bk fine. I know if I have Barrets. That dose not mean its cancer its just a higher risk of it. Its like pre cancer cells. Etc. I've all rdy been told if I have it. There's still only a small chance of getting cancer. But it dose mean I'll have to go on what's called a "survalence" programme. Every year or more I'll need a enscopy to monitor it. But will see how it goes when I get the results bk. I'm trying to not worry about it to much. But it is at the bk of my mind.

    Yes I do have reflux . 
    I wasn't diagnosed with a hernia . 
    I have gastritis . 
    The oesophages diagnosis is portal hypertensive gastropathy . 
    4 biopsies taken . 
    stomach portal hypertensive gastropathy . 
    we had to look these up and it sounds worrying . 
    It says it can be caused with alcohol . 
    ive never smoked or drink . 
    Feel very confused at the minute and I'm tempted to ring to see before the 2 weeks to explain the diagnosis .

    The pain I get is in the centre of the breast bone.  I was put in Omeprazole before Christmas but I do not intend to continue.  Amongst other things it is linked to osteoporosis.  What concerns me is I have the polyp at the entrance to the duodenum therefore the polyp will be making it difficult for food and the acid to pass down.

    My best case scenario will be this polyp is pre cancerous or benign.  Possibly I will need regular monitoring too.

    They checked my stomach. That hiya all clear. But they did so a biopsy for just a ulcer. (witch would mean gastritis).

     

    Hmm. Medication you've been on?. Only other thing I can think of. That makes sense.

    Hi. Ah I get that it feels horrible. Do you get it constantly?. I'm on omeprazole. It was helping me. Had to come off it due to having the test done. It was helping me. Now I am having to wait for it to kick bk in. Fingers crossed you get a good result.

     

    O don't worry I most certainly will do.
