Sorry to read about your experience. Using Dr Google is useless, it will tell you nothing as it knows nothing about you and its only purpose is to raise blood pressure and anxiety. I have no idea why your GP would jump to cancer after an abnormal liver function test as this could be down to a number of things. It seems a strange conversation you have had with the GP but you don't go into detail as to why blood tests were done nor why he thought it may be cancer.

Results from x-rays are usually in within a week, dependant on how busy they are but I would think of there was anything suspicious there the hospital would be in touch with your GP within a couple of days. Even then you would still need further tests to confirm cancer - so your GP has jumped the gun a bit here.

Have you had cancer in the past?

Try not worry too much, I know, easier said than done but there is nothing you can do until the results come back and hopefully it will be good news.

My journey started with gallstones attack about one month ago, I called the GP and I was reffered for an ultrasound and blood tests. Within two weeks of my blood test, I received a letter in the post saying my blood test were abnormal and I need to book a repeat test after 2 weeks. I followed the instructions and booked another test. Fast forward to the result day, the GP summaries my results and confirms I have gallstones. However he then goes to say my liver blood tests were abnormal, he doesn't not understand why. Within seconds he started asking if I am displaying cancer symptoms, I said no while freaking out. I asked him if he is implying I have cancer, he told me he can't confirm yes or no due to the abnormalities of my blood tests. He then said, "if I do have cancer, the liver is secondary cancer and he does not know where the primary is". At this point I was losing my mind and no longer hearing what he was saying. So I requested a full investigation on my body if I have cancer because my sister was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in 2018 at stage 2. Unfortunately with her case she spent one year trying to push for a biopsy referral on the lump which was protruding on her neck (she is now on remission:-)

The doctor recommended we carry out an x-ray scan because secondary liver cancer normally starts from lung cancer. 
 

I do not understand why my GP didn't ask about my lifestyle to try and understand the liver abnormality. Unfortunately with lockdown, me and my husband have been enjoying a light drink almost every night since last year. I would have assumed my liver has been overworked before rushing into cancer suspicions. 
 

Now I am waiting for the full blood tests and x-ray results. The waiting period is the worst part of this journey. I believe I have been suffering from anxiety attacks hence why I am struggling to sleep and at times my chest and throat feel heavy.

thank you for your message. 

Last year was so difficult, I ended up having the x-ray which came back clear. Then I went for an MRI scan because the doctors were seeing something on my liver however were not sharing this information. So for about six months I spent most days in hospital undergoing tests. Eventually a letter dropped at my door step explaining the ultrasound I had in February indicated I have a lump in the liver (this made so much sense to why I was being sent for scans), however I was so upset because I was in the dark and a letter which was a copy to my GP made me aware I was undergoing cancer screening. 
I went through sleepless nights wondering so much and this platform was my comfort. 
A week before my birthday in July, all the results came and I was informed I have a lump on my liver but it is benign (praise the Lord). I was informed I was born with it and it's no harm to my health. 
I will be forever greatful to everyone here who comforted me during my dark days. I have also gained a deeper insight of the emotions associated to cancer screening and for this, I have dedicated myself to anyone who needs support during such difficult times.
