I'm convinced i have cancer but to scared to go the doctor.

Hi everyone,

this post is probably going to frustrate everyone, so i apologise in advance. Im 26 years old and i started getting a dull pain in under my right shoulder blade about 2 years ago it was also clicking when i moved my arm. As most men do i ignored it and got on with my life. As time has went on the pain and the clicking had just got worse and worse, but im a coward and just kept it locked in my head. After two years the pain is now unberable taking codiene by the minutes and still hiding it from my GF, family and i also have two young kids. im convinced its cancer but im to scared and anxious to hear the bad news.

The only reason im writing this is because my mum recently got diagnosed with stage 2 bowel cancer and is now recieving chemotherepy and she is fighting it like an absolute legend and i feel so ashamed watching my mum go through this, while at the same time im to scared to even go the doctor lol.

  • Hi Pabs

Sorry to read about your mum's cancer, hope she's doing well with the chemo. I don't understand why some people are scared to go to the doctors when something is worrying them, I'd much rather it was treated than worry about it and self-medicate.

I wouldn't think it's cancer if it happened to me and more likely be linking it to an injury of some kind. But if I did think it could be cancer I would be at the GP pronto. Having been through cancer I know how essential it is to get it at an early stage.

You know what you have to do - call your GP and have it looked at. :)

  • Thank you for your post. I have literally just told my mum how I feel and she is going to come to the GP with me, I can't explain why I feel so scared of the doctor but I do. I'm just glad I have let it out instead of it bouncing round in my head.

  • Go and get it checked .
I had terrible pain for nearly a year and they did an ultrasound .

it showed bursitis which had gone into frozen shoulder .
It took time but physio exercises I'm back to normal .
Ultra sound doesn't hurt a bit and really quick .
    Good luck

  • Pleased you're going to get this sorted, hopefully [@Kodi]‍ comment will reassure you x
