Too many are using the C word

I went to A&E with Left side neck swelling . Within two weeks I have a referral to Gastroenterologist for an upper endoscopy . They seem to think my lump swelling and my sternum pain , Heartburn and feeling full , constipation are related to a possible stomach malignancy .. not really looking good ... Endoscopy on the 23rd!! They are giving me General Anastasia thank goodness . I've heard so many horror stories of endoscopy online .. at least that is something less to fret about ... At least 3 have used the C word ..  two professionals stating they are crossing their fingers for me ...

All I can say is Ive had symptoms for years and been back and forth to  hospital . On one occasion a member of hospital staff had commented how often I'd visited and asked me why I keep coming ??    Now with this lymph node appearing they are sitting up .
Just to let everyone know if they find anything I will be suing :)

  • Hello SpringBunny,

Poor you SpringBunny it's awful that you were asked why you keep coming. You did well to go to A and E and to have this investigated. I can understand why you are feeling so anxious after what they have told you but despite what they have been suggesting to you, I think it is too early to draw any conclusions and you will only have a full picture of what is going on once you have had the endoscopy on the 23rd. It's good they are giving you general anaesthetic for this and that they are now taking this seriously.

All you can do now is wait and luckily it won't be long now before you have this endoscopy. I hope it all goes well and that you have clarity on all this and a proper diagnosis soon. We'll be thinking of you in the coming days. Let us know what they find out if you get a chance!

I am keeping everything very tightly crossed for you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Spring Bunny. I had a Gastroscopy done last Saturday. I just had the spray down the throat. Honestly it's not that scary. Plus good thing for you. U will be knocked out for it. For about 24/82 hours after. Your throut will feel abit sore. And you might feel abit gassy. (this is because they push has into you). But that will pass in like a day. I had one done because of acid reflux. And I'm now waiting on a biopsy for Barrets Escopcus. (pre cancer cells growing possibly). Got to wait awhile yet. Said might be anything up to 8 weeks till I get the results bk.

Anyway yes honestly it's really not that bad. Hope it goes well for you. :).

  • Very kind of you . Thank you Lucie  :) x

  • Thank you . Good grief 8 weeks is an awfully long time . I hope that you manage to endure the wait well . Thinking of you also and wishing you kind results xx

  • Hey Lucie :). Thank you. Yea 8 weeks is a long time!. I'm going to call up my surgury in like 2 weeks time so that's 3 weeks to see if they have any results.

I'm more than aware that just because I may have Barrets dosent mean I have cancer. Just means I've got higher risk of it down the line. With possible pre cancer cells growing. It dose mean I'll have to be put on a "survalieve programme". Every year or so I'll have to go for a enscopy and for them to monitor what it's doing. Just have to wait and see. Xx
