Lump in breast

Hello all,

First time poster. Major health anxiety and generally anxious person.

I was getting in my pj's earlier and discovered a lump behind my left nipple. It made me so shocked that I almost fainted. I can't bear to feel again. I'm 42, 2 kids and feel utterly sick with fear. Fortunately I am going to the nurse tomorrow at my GP so will mention it. It's a bit tender too, well both boobs are as I think my period is due soon ish. I feel sick.

  • Hello,

I just wanted to post and say that if you are due a period or have just come off one, sometimes new lumps and bumps can appear apparantly - I went to the doctor last Thursday about a lump and he was saying that time of the month can sometimes cause lumpy breasts.

That's not to say for a second to not get it checked out - better safe than sorry, but hopefully helps put your mind at ease.

I have been referred to breast clinic as I have a few other symptoms alongside the lump. Last night is the first time I probably went to find it and feel it and I thought I might pass out with light headed ness when I felt it again - despite knowing what I was looking for it took me by surprise

good luck tomorrow , let us know how you get on!! Try not to worry yourself sick x

  • Thanks wee one. Tried and had another feel and can't feel it now. I cannot believe how sick it made me feel. I had to lie down. Will mention it to nurse tomorrow. I had breast scans about 3.5 years ago as hhad a lump but it was a blocked duct due to breast feeding.

  • I can empathise I really can. My head has been in a spin since last week when I went to the doctor about breast pain and the lump was discovered, it's easy to assume the worst at times isn't it. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and I am sure it will be perhaps another blocked duct of sorts or perhaps a small cyst. X

  • Sorry to hear this - I know how worrying that can be. I have another 2 weeks to wait for my breast clinic appointment and I just can't bare the waiting, I am more aware of symptoms now such as itchy skin, veins and achy lump / pain in armpit... if you need to chat , you can vent here!

    Take care x
