referral to dermatologist within 1 week

Hi,

ive had a mole for as long as i can rememer however recently been looking at it and cant decide whether or not its changed. i made and appointment with my doctor and sent pictures and he referred me to the dermatologist and the appointments next week.

bit concerned as it would seem like im getting the appointment rather quickly.

the mole is bigger than the end of a pencil, has a dark brown center with light brown edges- like i said it may have always looked like this, i just cant remember.

looking for advice or if anyones had any similar experinces.

  • To be honest, you may have just been lucky and that an appointment in your area was available. It took me a number of weeks to be seen by a dermatologist but a matter of hours to have photos taken.

I think when it comes to action as far as "what to do with it" that is when they are basing it on risk etc. However I get the feeling you were just fortunate. That being said, your mole is rather large and because of the colour irregularities they will naturally be curious to assess it.

I personally have been going through similar mole checks and can only stress that they can only take your word for it in terms of change and the rest is down to guidelines and the professionals to make a decision.

I have been using an app called SkinVision to check mine though as like you, I could never keep track and I must admit it has helped.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks for replying !
it's on my back unfortunately hence why I've never been able to keep up with if it has changed.

i can't lie and say I'm not getting a little worried and concerned really hope everything goes okay, as I've had the mole for years I can only imagine it will of spread :/

    perhaps I'm overthinking
