Swollen Neck Glands/Nodes

Hi Guys

Just looking for any advice really. I'm a male, 31 years old and have had swollen glands on my neck for around 5 weeks now. Have tried all the usual stuff, warm compress, ibuprofen etc. Spoke to a doctor last week who prescribed antibiotics however after using them for the full course they are still swollen. 
 

I called doctors again today and they have booked me in for bloods as I literally have NO other symptoms at all other than the glands. One side is pea shaped and tender to touch, and the other side feels like a group of 2

 

Just looking for any advice really, I panic a fair bit and waiting round for bloods etc only adds to worry, as I feel if I had an infection I would have some sort of other symptoms. I have looked on google (wrong thing to do I know!) and it's filled me with all sorts of fear.

I appreciate they can sometimes swell for no reason and are usually nothing serious, but would love to hear from anyone who has had similar issues.

    I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your blood results. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results. 

    I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and you're right, it's best to avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. 

    I hope you will also hear from others here who have also had swollen neck nodes before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you. 

    Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.
