2 Week wait appointment today!

So today I had my first appointment after my fast track refferal and everyone at the clinic was really lovely.  They did find another 2 lumps though that I didn't know about and some of my lymph nodes under the left arm pit where a bit enlarged but its possible that relates to my recent covid vaccine in my left shoulder.  I was at the Clinic from 9am to 1pm and had several mamograms then an ultrasound where they did several biopsies and put a marker in my left breast as one of the lumps there they felt that one looked not so good. then I had an xray type mamogram and another biopsy.  So all in all I feel a bit sore but strangely calm.  Theyve said now I will have another 2 week wait to get my biopsy results so I need to try and not go to the worst case scenario in my mind, which is going to be really tough.  But at least now I am in the process and based on todays experience at the hospital I couldn't have wished for nicer people to be seen by!

  • Hi there,

I'm glad you got your appointment through and it sounds like they have been very thorough and you are in good hands. I know the wait now for results will be hard and you will need to keep yourself distracted.

I have my appointment at the clinic for Saturday morning and feeling quite up and down about it.

    Take care

    Lou

  • I will be thinking of you on Saturday and I really hope that you are treated as kindly as I found the staff at my appointment today. I completely understand about you being up and down and the waiting to be seen is so hard. Saturday will be here soon and then you will at least be on the way to finding out what you are dealing with.

Take good care and if you would like to, let me know how it goes.

    Thinking of you xx

  • Thank you, I will let you know how things go on Saturday and please keep me updated too.

Can I ask how you found the tests at the clinic, were they painful? My breast/nipple is quite tender at the moment so thinking that lots of prodding, squeezing etc won't be pleasant!

  • Hi, I found the tests at the clinic not too bad the mamogram is more like pressure and was only slightly painful when they where trying to get a higher up photo done but it is literally over very quickly.  The ultrasound isnt painful at all and if you do need a biopsy then you get local anaethestic,  I thought i would be feeling more sore today than I am, its just slightly stinging, more under my armpit from the biopsy from my lymph node but paracetamol is helping with that.

Make sure you have something easy planned for tea on saturday night that you can just pop in the oven (or someone else can pop in the oven for you!)

All the best and I'm thinking of you xx

  • Thanks for the info  it's always good to feel a bit prepared going into these things.

I had a colonoscopy last month (thankfully all fine) and that was rather painful but I coped so hopefully should be fine. The waiting is really getting to me but not long now.

Wishing you speedy good results x

  • Just think this time tomorrow you will have been and be back home and I think if you can cope with a colonoscopy you will be alright tomorrow as it is less invasive than that.  I'm glad that was all ok though, you have certainly had a lot to deal with recently.

Sending you lots of luck and best wishes for tomorrow.

    xx

  • Thanks so much, I will definitely be having a glass of wine tomorrow night whatever the outcome and some nice m&s food  :-)

  • Well the dreaded the appointment is over! It took about 2 hours and the nurses were lovely. It was nice to have a chat with them and the other ladies there. After tests they didn't find anything sinister or conclusive but said there was thickening of breast tissue behind my nipple but they are putting this down as hormonal and said to keep a check on it and come back if any rashes occur. I feel relieved but also still have a sore itchy boob that I'll have to put up with for now I guess. The whole experience was not as scary as I expected and way better than a colonoscopy! I feel quite tired now after all the anxiety and adrenaline I built up beforehand.

Hope you are doing ok and get a good result soon with no further treatment hopefully.

Feel free to message if you want a chat.

  • Hi Lou

I'm so please that your appointment went ok and that you got a good result. you must be so relieved and exhausted after all the worry.

I'm just trying to keep a bit busy and been gardening today and hope to get out for the day tommorrow and do something nice before the girls go back to school.

I will let you know my outcome and again I'm so pleased everything turned out ok for you today.

    Hi Lou,

I am delighted to hear that your appointment is behind you now and that the outcome was as good as it could be. If your boobs are still itchy, see your GP and see if you can be prescribed something to combat the itch. I am sure that you feel mightily relieved tonight and hope that you're enjoying that glass of wine.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
