Results over the phone

I have recently had a rather large tumour removed from

my ovary, I've been waiting results of the biopsy and received a letter today to say I will have a phone appointment next Tuesday for the results. I was a bit relieved at first as I assumed if it was bad news I'd be asked to go in for a face to face consultation..

Has anyone had bad news over the phone?

Thanks for reading.

**UPDATE**
long story short, I was given a cancer diagnosis over the phone today. I actually felt ok with this procedure but just to make others aware this does happen. I'm in Scotland.

  • Hello bippy424,

Welcome to Cancer Chat! I just wanted to wish you the very best of luck for your results. Not long to go now before you get a definite diagnosis.

Keeping everything crossed for you for good news! It's really hard to tell whether being given the news over the phone means anything or not - so many processes have also had to be adapted recently due to covid. So try not draw any conclusions either way as it may not mean anything in itself. It won't be long now before you get some clarity on all this.

Keep us updated if you get a chance, we'll be thinking of you in the next few days!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Bippy424,

I'm sorry I can't help with your question but I'm wondering if you would mind telling me how long you had to wait for them to get in touch if you don't mind?

I'm currently awaiting my results from mass removal on the 17th April. I know it varies with different hospitals but I literally don't have a clue what's the 'norm'

    Thanks.

  • Took just over 3 weeks for me to get my letter from the hospital, hopefully you will hear soon.

  • Hi Bippy424,
Just to say good luck for your results tomorrow. Waiting for results is hell on earth.
Not a medic, but I know that most ovary tumours are benign. By this time tomorrow there is a very high chance that the results will be fine, your treatment will be over and you will be feeling fabulous.
    Best wishes, Harry
