How to know if Barrett's esophagus has progressed into cance

Hi,

I was diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus in 2014 at a young age (24). I had a follow up endoscopy in 2017 that came back obviously saying I still had BE but it had not gotten any larger and was quite small. At the time they said they'd do my next endoscopy in 3 years time but covid meant they've pushed it back to 4 years so I will have it the end of this year.

I was wondering though, what are the signs that it's progressing into cancer?

Over the past 6 months I have been struggling more and more with having a hoarse voice and recently I also started getting pain (like severe sharp pain) around where my stomach and esophagus meet but it doesn't always happen after eating. Twice last year I had this weird thing happen where for a few weeks I couldn't swollow properly as it felt like I had a tablet stuck in the back of my throat and it was sore to swollow too. My GP said it seemed more like esphoegitis but I wondered if people with BE are more prone to all of these symptoms I have been having or if I should be trying to push to get my endoscopy sooner?

Any ones experiences with Barrett's would be great! Usually any doctors I see just say "oh you are young to have Barrett's" which is not helpful!
