Hello all,
My sister went to hospital a few days ago with pains in her stomach and vomiting. Initially it was given as a possibility of kidney stones or pancreaitis.
After blood tests and scans, she was diagnosed with Ovarian cysts (>10cm). Doctors say they are suspicious, so a biopsy was conducted today. Radiologist wasn't able to take a biopsy because "there is nothing to take a biopsy of". He said the cysts are full of fluid, so took a sample of the fluid for tests. He marked it urgent but said it would probably take 7-10 days. He also said that if it is cancerous, then it is likely to be in the early stage.
A junior doctor has just seen my sister (early 40s) and said a cancer nurse will visit tomorrow. This has got us all worrying, but logically I am thinking that they will have had no test results yet.
So, the question is, is this just a routine thing at this stage - just in case? Or, is it likely that the tests have come back with conclusive results?
