Lump in breast and burning pain

Hey I'm relatively new to this but just looking for some advice, Iv had burning pain in my left breast and shoulder pain over the course of about 3 months,

I rang the doctors several times was given naproxen and stuff as they thought it was to do with the nerves but  the pain was still there (like a really odd dull ache hard to explain) so I contacted the doctors again when he asked did I have any lumps on my breast stupidly I never really checked as I'm only 31, but on examining them I did have a lump and doctor asked me to come in that day.

Doc examined the breast and sent an urgent referral to the hospital, I'm not really sure what I'm trying to ask here but I'm panicking like crazy, my mother in law has just been diagnosed with ovarian cancer so don't want to worry anyone else with all of this!!

Has this happened to anyone and it turned out to be OK?  Sorry for rambling but iv 3 kids and I'm so scared it is something sinister

Thanks

  • Hello Amio and welcome to Cancer Chat.

Our members know how scary it is to find a breast lump so will completely understand how you're feeling at the moment, but after being referred many of them had positive outcomes. Also, 9 out of 10 people who are urgently referred are not diagnosed with cancer. You can find out more just here.

I'm sure you'll hear from the community soon but if you'd like to get a general idea of what may happen at your appointment whilst you wait, just click here.

We'll have our fingers crossed for good results Amio.

    All the best,
