Some years ago my brother died from testicular cancer. My father and grandfather both had testicular cancer. This family history makes me a much higher risk of getting it too. In addition I had an undescended testicle which is another risk factor.
My second wife died of breast cancer so I understand how terrible it can be when cancer gets out of control. It terrifies me.
My question is whether it is possible to choose to have a preventative orchidectomy so that it becomes impossible to get this cancer which is a high risk for me?
I'm hoping the answer is yes since I know some high risk breast cancer women went for preventative double mastectomies so the same should apply to men in the case of a history of testicular cancer.
I'm waiting to see a urologist on this or am I wasting my time?
