Supraclavicular Lymph Node.. Worried!!!!

Hello All,

I recently had my covid vaccine - I noticed my shoulder / collarbone was sensitive when I touched it a day after I noticed I had a small, moveable, lump.

I spoke to the GP on the phone (because of covid) she said it's likely a lymph node from the jab. I went away and still wasn't happy as no one saw me... so I called back and spoke to a different GP... she didn't sound worried either, but called me in... I saw her, she felt it and didn't blink an eye lid... but said she would give me a blood test for peace of mind.

I rang back to get the results and spoke to a further GP... my blood tests were completely normal.... I explained it to him too and he also didn't seem like he was concerned.

I work at a private hospital, so went to see a consultant dermatologist on his lunch break ( he has had a special interest in lumps and bumps for 28 years ) - he wasn't worried, said it was small like a little finger tip size, it was moveable etc... and then he said come and see me in three weeks for a follow up. I went back, he said there's been no change. So he wasn't worried...

I have severe health anxiety and Google is sending me through the roof...

has anyone had a supraclavicular node story and it not be sinister??

I suffer with breast acne, could this cause the swelling???

  • Hi, this is exactly what has happened to me. I literally could have wrote this post, even down to seeing different docs normal bloods exactly where it is and when it came up after the jab!

  • Yes, I've experienced exactly the same. They even put me on 'fast track' when it first happened (with 1st vaccine), ct scans included . But thankfully everything came back fine. Now, after having my booster, the pain and swelling is back all around my collarbone of injected arm...... Feel awful and quite wobbly too this time but I did have my flu jab the next day

  • Would you give me an update?

I had my sec dose of Pfizer in July and I still have the lump. I feel that it is now a bit smaller but I can still feel it. I had an ultrasound two months ago and they said it is visible but it is not concerning. Everyone calls me crazy but I have a family and I can't stop sleeping at night.

Please tell me how is yours and what you did.

    Thank you

  • Do you still have it? Did it go away? When?

  • Hi

I had it for about 8 weeks and it's completely gone down now

  • Taking comfort from your posts although of course I wish none of you worry or discomfort.  I came across this thread whilst googling. I had my moderna booster on 2 days ago (first 2 were Pfizer and no issues) I felt a tender area above my collar bone and there is a lump roughly half in across in this area. I know google docotr is the last thing I should be doing but it's worrying. Based on what most of you have said, the lump is staying for a punt 7-8 weeks? Wondering if I should hold off from the docs until maybe after Xmas

  • Hi all!

I know this is an oldish thread but I got my Moderna vaccine booster yesterday and have since had a large lump come up in my collar bone supraclavicular lymph node. It's painful, itchy, and really hot. I have health anxiety, but I have done some searching to find this study. www.eurosurveillance.org/.../1560-7917.ES.2021.26.10.2100193

This explains that the lymph node swelling is likely down to the administration of the vaccine, did anyone else have theirs injected at a very high point on their arm? I certainly did. I think the swelling is unfortunately a rare but reported side effect if the vaccine is poorly administered (no hate to the nurse who did it!) and the benign lump seems to last for a few weeks. This post is only meant to calm some nerves and anxieties, as a I please encourage you to speak to your doctor too! BUT try and relax, I'm sure its nothing too worrying for the moment!

  • Hi all, it is so reassuring to read all of these comments. I have had pretty much the same thing, a smallish lump appeared under my collar bone about 5 hours after my booster jab (moderna). It is really tender to touch and is making the left side of my neck really ache and feel really stiff. My collar bone and shoulder area also hurts.

Called the pharmacist who said this wouldn't be related to the vaccine (despite it appearing merely hours after!!) but judging by these comments it seems likely that it would be.

Mine isnt itchy but is really hot and my neck feels almost burnt! I have been told if it is still there in a week to make a GP appointment. Not looking forward to having this for 8 weeks....?!

  • Hi

i had my first jab last April in my left arm. Shortly after my supra clavicle node appeared swollen. I had blood tests and a scan and was told it was nothing to worry about. I had my other two jabs in my right arm. Had a small swelling in lymph node on right hand side but this disappeared after a few days. My left hand side lymph node, though, is still swollen. It does go down but then comes back. I have tried to not think about it. I have a feeling it may always swell now if I feel slightly under the weather. Hope you are ok xxxxx

  • Hi

I've just had my mri scan results back today. It's saying bulky enhancing lingual tonsils, involving both palatine tonsils with enlarged right level 11 and left supreclavicular lymph node. I'm very worried and they want to review me in 3 months, that seems along time to me. Has anyone else had this before?
    Take care x
